Robin Nisbet – Director

Commenced his career with an Underwriting Syndicate at Lloyds of London (underwriting member in 1982). Moved to Australia and took a role as Associate Director at Allen-Duncan and insured the construction of stage 3 of the Sydney Opera House and other major building projects.

He established Armstrong Nisbet Insurance Brokers specializing in construction, mining, industrial and rural schemes. Major projects include Eastern Suburbs Railway, Robe River Iron Ore mine, Queensland sugar Cane Growers and James.N.Kirby. The business grew to annual premiums over $100m, with client throughout Australia, China, New Zealand, Indonesia, Philippines and Fiji and international networks for placements with Property & Liability ‘A’ rated insurance and reinsurance underwriters in London, New York and Europe.The company merged to form Hogg Robinson Nisbet a subsidiary of Hogg Robinson Plc and as Chairman and CEO, Robin was responsible for a wide range of Australian Banks (Macquarie, Reserve Bank of Australia etc) Terasury coverage and specialist facilities for clients to insure debt risk.  Since then, Robin has held a number of directorships and in 2005 re-established Armstrong Nisbet Insurance Brokers and has a number of listed and non-listed mining, resources and ICT clients with substantial growth.
